Audio Sources Separation by Clustering Techniques
نویسنده
چکیده
[Background] Audio sources, including human vocal cords and musical instruments usually are based on a harmonic oscillator that produces vibrations on a series of integer multiples of a base frequency. The base frequency defines the pitch of the sound produced. Due to different characteristics of these sources, even if we have 2 sounds from 2 different sources whose base frequencies are the same, their power distributions over these harmonics are different. We human ears can identify the differences in the distributions and tell that the instruments produce different timbres. To us, timbres are signatures of sound sources. However, these signatures are not that straightforward to computers. Since these signatures are described in the spectrum domain, my starting point to tackle this problem is from the spectrum of audio signals.

Beta Divergence for Clustering in Monaural Blind Source Separation
General purpose audio blind source separation algorithms have to deal with a large dynamic range for the different sources to be separated. In our algorithm the mixture is separated into single notes. These notes are clustered to construct the melodies played by the active sources. The non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) leads to good results in clustering the notes according to spectral fe...
متن کاملAdaptive Harmonization and Pitch Correction of Polyphonic Audio Using Spectral Clustering
There are several well known harmonization and pitch correction techniques that can be applied to monophonic sound sources. They are based on automatic pitch detection and frequency shifting without time stretching. In many applications it is desired to apply such effects on the dominant melodic instrument of a polyphonic audio mixture. However, applying them directly to the mixture results in ...
متن کاملMulti-source TDOA estimation in reverberant audio using angular spectra and clustering
We consider the problem of estimating the time differences of arrival (TDOAs) of multiple sources from a two-channel reverberant audio signal. While several clustering-based or angular spectrum-based methods have been proposed in the literature, only relatively small-scale experimental evaluations restricted to either category of methods have been carried out so far. We design and conduct the f...
متن کاملNotes on Nonnegative Tensor Factorization of the Spectrogram for Audio Source Separation: Statistical Insights and Towards Self-Clustering of the Spatial Cues
Nonnegative tensor factorization (NTF) of multichannel spectrograms under PARAFAC structure has recently been proposed by Fitzgerald et al as a mean of performing blind source separation (BSS) of multichannel audio data. In this paper we investigate the statistical source models implied by this approach. We show that it implicitly assumes a nonpoint-source model contrasting with usual BSS assum...
متن کاملEnvironmental Audio Source Separation Based on Improved K-means Clustering with Adaptive Genetic Algorithm
In daily life environmental sounds that are present around us include intricately mixed sounds emitted from different sources. This work aim is to contribute a method for sound source separation by means of the enhanced k-means clustering with adaptive genetic algorithm. At first removes the features from the input audio signal by means of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and spectral...
متن کاملSource-filter Based Clustering for Monaural Blind Source Separation
In monaural blind audio source separation scenarios, a signal mixture is usually separated into more signals than active sources. Therefore it is necessary to group the separated signals to the final source estimations. Traditionally grouping methods are supervised and thus need a learning step on appropriate training data. In contrast, we discuss unsupervised clustering of the separated channe...
